By analysing the results of a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and putting our creative minds to find a solution, Better Packaging Co. has found a way to reduce the carbon footprint of our poly garment bags by almost 16%!
BETTER BY DESIGN
When a LCA of our home compostable mailers and poly bags showed that over 16% of the carbon footprint of these products was just in the seal, we resolved to change it. We've never liked the fact that the release liner on them was made of plastic either so it was the 'nail in the coffin' for those pesky seals.
PILLOWTALK
We're now currently trialling our new 'pillowcase' design which functions just like, you guessed it, a pillow case (or pillow slip). The overlapping flap means that the contents can't slip out and an adhesive strip isn't needed at all!
AN EVEN LOWER FOOTPRINT POLY BAG
Combine this new design with our POLLAST!C material (which already has a footprint 89% smaller than the equivalent virgin plastic LDPE poly bag!) and you've got yourself potentially the lowest carbon footprint garment bag in the world.
